Ingredients
- Broccoli florets: 2 cups, chopped small
- Cheddar cheese: 1 cup, shredded
- All-purpose flour: 1/2 cup
- Egg: 1 large
- Milk: 2 tablespoons
- Garlic powder: 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt: 1/4 teaspoon
- Black pepper: 1/4 teaspoon
Instructions
- Step 1: Steam or boil the chopped broccoli florets until tender-crisp (about 5-7 minutes). Drain well and let cool slightly. Squeeze out any excess water.
- Step 2: In a large bowl, combine the cooked broccoli, shredded cheddar cheese, flour, egg, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
- Step 3: Heat a thin layer of oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Step 4: Drop spoonfuls of the broccoli mixture into the hot oil, flattening them slightly with the back of a spoon.
- Step 5: Cook the fritters for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Step 6: Remove the fritters from the skillet and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- Store cooled fritters in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- For crispy reheating, use a toaster oven or air fryer rather than a microwave.
- Serve these cheesy delights with a dollop of sour cream or a spicy mayo for dipping.
- Don't skip squeezing the excess water from the broccoli; it's key for crispy fritters!
