Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup guava nectar
- 1/2 cup chili-infused simple syrup (recipe below)
- 1 cup water (or sparkling water for extra fizz)
- 1/4 cup lime juice (freshly squeezed)
- 2 tablespoons orange liqueur (optional)
- 4–6 fresh mint leaves
- Ice cubes
- Pinch of salt
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1–2 small dried chilies (adjust to taste, remove seeds for less heat)
Instructions
- Step 1: Make the chili-infused simple syrup. Combine sugar, water, and dried chilies in a small saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and let steep for at least 30 minutes (or up to 2 hours for a stronger chili flavor). Strain out the chilies before using.
- Step 2: Muddle mint leaves gently in a shaker. Add the guava nectar, chili-infused simple syrup, lime juice, orange liqueur (if using), and a pinch of salt to the shaker.
- Step 3: Fill the shaker with ice. Close tightly and shake well until the shaker is chilled.
- Step 4: Strain the mixture into glasses filled with ice.
- Step 5: Top with water or sparkling water.
- Step 6: Garnish with a lime wedge and/or a few fresh mint leaves. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Store leftover chili-infused simple syrup in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
- For a slightly warmer, more comforting drink, gently reheat the chili guava mixture before shaking with ice, but avoid boiling.
- Serve this vibrant drink in elegant margarita glasses with a sugared rim for an extra touch of flair.
- To control the heat level, adjust the number of chilies in the simple syrup and always remove the chili seeds before steeping.
