Ingredients
- Beef sirloin, thinly sliced: 1 pound
- Broccoli florets: 4 cups
- Soy sauce: 1/4 cup
- Cornstarch: 2 tablespoons
- Brown sugar: 2 tablespoons
- Garlic, minced: 2 cloves
- Ginger, minced: 1 teaspoon
- Vegetable oil: 2 tablespoons
Instructions
- Step 1: In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, cornstarch, brown sugar, garlic, and ginger. Set aside.
- Step 2: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the sliced beef and stir-fry until browned, about 2-3 minutes. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
- Step 3: Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil to the skillet. Add the broccoli florets and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes, until tender-crisp.
- Step 4: Pour the soy sauce mixture over the broccoli and cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens, about 1 minute.
- Step 5: Return the cooked beef to the skillet and toss to combine with the broccoli and sauce. Heat through.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- For best results, reheat gently in a skillet over medium heat, adding a splash of water if needed to loosen the sauce.
- Serve your beef and broccoli over steamed rice or noodles for a complete and satisfying meal.
- To achieve extra-tender beef, briefly marinate the sliced sirloin in a teaspoon of baking soda for 15 minutes before cooking, then rinse thoroughly.
