Ingredients
- All-purpose flour: 1 1/2 cups
- Plain Greek yogurt (non-fat): 1 cup
- Baking powder: 1 1/2 teaspoons
- Salt: 1/2 teaspoon
- Egg: 1, beaten (for egg wash)
- Everything bagel seasoning: 2 tablespoons
- Optional sweetener (honey or maple syrup): 1 tablespoon
- Water: 1 tablespoon (if needed for dough)
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Step 2: In a large bowl, combine the flour, Greek yogurt, baking powder, and salt. Mix well until a dough forms. If the dough is too dry, add water a tablespoon at a time until it comes together.
- Step 3: Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently for 2-3 minutes until smooth.
- Step 4: Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a long rope and then connect the ends to form a bagel shape.
- Step 5: Place the bagels on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops with the beaten egg and sprinkle generously with everything bagel seasoning.
- Step 6: Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown. Let cool slightly before enjoying.
Notes
- Store cooled bagels in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or freeze for longer storage.
- For a warm, chewy bagel, microwave for 15-20 seconds or toast lightly.
- Slice these bagels and top with smoked salmon, cream cheese, and fresh dill for a delightful brunch.
- Chef's tip: Don't over-knead the dough – a gentle touch keeps these bagels delightfully fluffy!
