Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package (14.3 oz) Oreo cookies
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 16 ounces white chocolate melting wafers
- Green food coloring
- Blue food coloring
- Small candy eyeballs
- Black decorating gel
- Vegetable shortening (optional, for thinning chocolate)
Instructions
- Step 1: Finely crush the Oreo cookies in a food processor or by placing them in a resealable bag and crushing them with a rolling pin.
- Step 2: In a large bowl, combine the crushed Oreo cookies and softened cream cheese. Mix well until a smooth, even mixture forms.
- Step 3: Roll the Oreo mixture into 1-inch balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
- Step 4: Melt the white chocolate wafers according to package directions. If the chocolate is too thick, add a small amount of vegetable shortening (1 teaspoon at a time) until desired consistency is reached.
- Step 5: Dip each Oreo ball into the melted white chocolate, ensuring it is fully coated. Place back on the parchment-lined baking sheet. Immediately add a candy eyeball to the center of each truffle.
- Step 6: While the chocolate is still wet, use a toothpick or small brush to apply green and blue food coloring to the white chocolate around the eyeball to create a spooky iris effect. Use black decorating gel to draw veins extending from the eyeball. Let truffles set completely before serving.
Notes
- Store your Oreo Eyeball Truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator to keep them firm and prevent the chocolate from melting.
- These truffles are best served chilled directly from the fridge, so no reheating is necessary – their cool, creamy texture is part of the spooky fun!
- Present these eerie eyeballs on a platter lined with Halloween-themed paper or nestled in a bed of edible "dirt" made from crushed Oreo crumbs for extra impact.
- For a smoother, more vibrant iris effect, mix a tiny drop of vodka or other clear alcohol with the food coloring before painting it onto the white chocolate.
