Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/4 cup peanut butter (smooth or crunchy)
- 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup (or honey)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Step 1: In a jar or container with a lid, combine the rolled oats, peanut butter, milk, chia seeds, maple syrup, vanilla extract, cinnamon (if using), and salt.
- Step 2: Stir everything together thoroughly until well combined and the peanut butter is evenly distributed.
- Step 3: Secure the lid on the jar or container.
- Step 4: Refrigerate overnight (or for at least 4 hours) to allow the oats to soften and absorb the liquid.
- Step 5: In the morning, give the oats a good stir. If they are too thick, add a splash more milk to reach your desired consistency.
- Step 6: Enjoy cold straight from the fridge, or top with your favorite toppings such as fresh fruit, nuts, or extra peanut butter.
Notes
- Store leftover overnight oats in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- For a warmer breakfast, gently microwave your oats for 30-60 seconds, stirring halfway through, until heated through.
- Elevate your oats by adding a swirl of yogurt and a sprinkle of chopped peanuts for extra creaminess and crunch.
- To prevent the peanut butter from separating, make sure to thoroughly stir the mixture before refrigerating for a perfectly smooth and creamy texture.
